Redesign
As you might have noticed, we’ve had a bit of a redesign at Crime Tracker, formerly known as Memphis Crime Tracker. We’ll get into some of the new features Monday, but for the moment, feel free to roam around the site and check out all the flashy goodness. If you notice anything suspicious, let us know by either emailing webmaster@memphiscrimetracker.com, or by leaving a comment below.

Hi I just came across your website and think it is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! What a brilliant idea, I am surprised that this initiative has not caught on sooner. My big question for you is this: I live about 45 mins east of Toronto Ontario Canada in a city called Oshawa. We have been labled Crack Capital of Ontario and for having a population of less than 150k, you know we have a problem. I would love to see something like this undertaken by our local police departments… what can I do to help facilitate this process? Again I think that this is a wonderful idea and whom ever came up with this should win the noble prize!! Any how keep up the great work and cudo’s to you all!

The website is a good start, but when are you going to finish it? Without any details (”narrative not available”), the crime locations are not of much use. Hopefully this is a temporary thing.
Apparently you only keep positive comments and discard the negative. I suppose that is why there is now only one comment posted. When you get the site up and running completely, I will leave a positive post. Until then, the site is useless with “Narrative not available” as the best information you can provide.
Nope, just on vacation.
As noted in the FAQ, we don’t receive narratives from some police departments. It’s not a technical problem on our level, but an issue that we’re trying to work out with those departments in question. If there’s an area of town where you’re not seeing narratives, I would suggest contacting the police department in that area and asking them why they don’t provide a narrative.
Thanks for the constructive criticism. We’re cooking up a few ideas right now to improve the site considerably.
Not wanting to belabor the point, but there is that (non)response from MPD, Bartlett, Millington, Collierville, and Shelby County (at least on reports since the “redesign”). At least G’town gives you a 4-5 word description. Maybe I’m not the one who needs to do a little more work on this.
Hi All:
Nice site, but you have a posting that supposedly occurred on 8-22-07.
My calendar says 8-22-07 hasn’t even happened yet
Thought you’d like to know.
Whoops! That’s a data entry problem. Thanks for the catch!
