Police Narrative:
On 02/03/07 at 22:22 hours, officer(s) N. Newman () and M. McCord (5623) responded to a Counterfeiting/Forgery at 5900 Ridgeland and the Reporting Officer advised On 2/3/07 the Strike Team was in the area of Hickory Hill // Knight Arnold, a high crime and drug sales area, checking a complaint. Lt. McCord observed a red 1995 Nissan Sentra VIN 1N4AB41D6SC708400 turn into the Bella Vista Apts. from Hickory Hill with the driver not wearing a seat belt. A traffic stop was made at 5900 Ridgeland with def.(Vasquez) driving. Officer Newman made scene to assist. Officers noticed that the TN temp tag displayed was an obvious fake. The tag was pixelated, color scheme wrong, issue date not punched, all state seals fuzzy, and the serial number (R480110) has been seized on numerous fake tags in the past. Officers asked def.(Vasquez) for DL and proof of insurance. Def.(Vasquez) could not provide anything. While talking to def.(Vasquez) def.(Hernandez) came out and advised in a spontaneous utterance that he bought the tag on the street for $40.00. Both defs. were arrested. Neither def. had a state ID. Both defs. were mirrandized and refused to give a statement about the tag. Defs. were transported to Jail. Def.(Hernandez) signed a vehicle hold harmless. Vehicle was released to Connie Gracia 3/4/89 per the owner def.(Hernandez). This occurred in Memphis and Shelby County TN. All evidence was tagged at 201 Poplar P&E Room by
