Police Narrative:
On Thursday February 1, 2007, members of the Memphis Police Department Organized Crime Unit Team #7 conducted a knock and talk at 416 Boston where a Male/Black was selling drugs. Defendant Akins invited detectives inside the house and detectives observed in plain view several marijuana raches in a black ash tray sitting on a speaker in the living room. Defendant Akins refused to sighn a consent to search form and officers had to get a search warrant. Detective Jordan returned with the warrant and detectives conducted a search of the house. Detective Jordan with his narcotic dog "Buddy" searched the house and "Buddy"alerted to the presence of drug odor in the entertainment system. When Detective Jordan checked the entertainment system, he found tow black portable digital scales. One was in the top portion of the system and the other scale was in the bottom of hte entertainment system. The scales and marijuana roaches were taken to the Memphis Police Department Property and Evidence room at 201 Poplar. the marijuana tested positive and weighted 1.0 TGW. Defendant Akins had no I.D. on his person. Defendant Akins was arrested and transported to 201 Poplar.
