About Memphis Crime Tracker

The Memphis Police Department provides us with a feed of reported incidents, which we update each week.

We've broken out some categories to keep the data manageable. Other categories are not listed to avoid conflicts with Commercial Appeal editorial policies regarding identification of victims, of suicides and the like.

We've also combined some incidents under parent categories. For example, BURGLARY includes eight different MPD incident types. The specific incident type is available in the detailed information of each incident.


The aggravated assault category includes:

The murder category includes just the murder incident type.

The simple assault category includes:

The disorderly conduct includes just the disorderly conduct or fighting incident type.
